The use of health information technology has had an impact in the nursing world. With the way communication and accuracy of patient information is being circulated, it has saved lives. One of the ways that health information technology has changed nursing practice is through documentation. There is no such thing as written notes for patients medical records. Today, nurses are more likely to input notes into electronic health records and other systems that keep a patient’s medical history up-to-date and easily accessible (UIC,2019). The use of HI, allows us, the students to see patient information and see their whole medical history. Since we are not allowed to do all patient care as students, we still get to see what and how other nurses cared for the same patients by their charting. Health information technology is a great tool for nurses and students.
